Chris Jonah, Langham Preaching’s country coordinator in Sierra Leone, reported on a successful ‘refresher’ event there in May. This country has only recently recovered from the devastating Ebola epidemic, which stopped some of the Preaching Clubs that had been running in various places. But now, many of the groups have revived, and the work is back on track. Chris’ report reflects God’s kindness to believers in Sierra Leone, who are persevering in teaching the Bible faithfully.
“Thirty two persons participated in the ‘refresher’ training, including two people who led the event. It took place in Kono, which is 359km from the capital Freetown. Diamonds were discovered in Kono in 1930 and are still being mined, but Kono is impoverished and it is only within the last two years that the road to Kono was redone and now has some intermittent power supply.

Nous sommes partis un jour plus tôt pour rendre visite à Freeman Taylor, le leader de Preachers’ Club, qui a perdu son fils dans un accident de la route. Notre coordinateur régional a participé aux funérailles. Nous avons encouragé, partagé nos expériences et prié pour la famille.
Relancer les clubs de prédication
Nous sommes ensuite partis pour Makeni et avons visité Pastor Macaulay. Le club des prédicateurs de Makeni a cessé de se réunir depuis un certain temps. Macaulay n'avait pas suivi la formation, mais c'est un de nos amis qui a lancé une implantation d'église. Nous avons essayé et pris des contacts avec des personnes qui avaient suivi le cours. L'actuel responsable du conseil pastoral a suivi le cours de Langham et nous avons entamé des discussions pour relancer le club sur Makeni.
God is in control of his work. A few weeks before the training we received a call from a pastor who had listened to our radio broadcast in Freetown and wanted to be trained. Coincidentally he was from Kono and visiting Freetown. We then informed him about the training and he joined the others to plan the programme. His church building was the venue for the Langham programme.
Certains participants n'avaient pas suivi la formation Langham, nous avons donc dû adapter la formation pour montrer ce qu'est Langham , l'importance du club des prédicateurs et la manière d'en gérer un. Nous avons ensuite travaillé sur plusieurs passages en utilisant les principes pour montrer comment tirer le meilleur parti d'un texte.

We praise God for/that:
- Bon voyage à notre équipe de Freetown et bon fonctionnement de la voiture.
- L'enthousiasme des participants et l'excitation de s'impliquer dans le club.
- L'hospitalité de l'hôte.
- Deux nouveaux dirigeants ont été sélectionnés pour diriger le club et ils doivent se réunir samedi prochain pour planifier le redémarrage.
- Nous avons convenu d'organiser un séminaire de prédication Langham de niveau 1 à Kono l'année prochaine.
We pray for /that:
- Dieu nous donnera la sagesse nécessaire pour savoir comment procéder. Kono
- Un bon fruit de cette visite
- Les clubs seront pleinement rétablis et soutenus.
- Le groupe de Makeni va redémarrer et celui de Lunsar sera renforcé.
- Pastor Freeman’s family, the loss of their 23-year-old son who was a final year
student at the university is a big blow.
