Chronique du Langham Partnership
Constitué en 1969 et guidé par John Stott, le Langham Partnership a été ainsi nommé d’après l’église londonienne où il exerçait comme pasteur. Depuis lors, nous avons œuvré pour faire connaître les besoins de l’Église universelle et la nécessité d’équiper les leaders chrétiens du Monde Majoritaire d’une éducation et des ressources requises pour partager l’Évangile et faire des disciples.
L’influence de Langham
Depuis sa fondation, Langham a :
- Apporté son appui matériel à plus de 300 Langham Scholars en doctorat théologique, ce qui leur permet d’être au service de l’Église dans plus de 75 pays au monde;
- Équipé plus de 10 200 pasteurs et laïcs pour enseigner la Parole de Dieu, cela en organisant 228 ateliers d’éducation pour pasteurs et plus de 500 fraternités de prédication dans 63 pays;
- Distribué 62 003 livres bibliques à des collèges du Monde Majoritaire, des églises, des pasteurs et des éditeurs dans 77 pays, apporté de l’appui à 12 éditeurs autochtones pour rédiger et imprimer 26 titres en langues régionales.
John Stott, notre fondateur
John Stott avait compris que les chrétiens devaient d’abord eux-mêmes être transformés par l’Évangile pour que subséquemment, l’Évangile change le monde – démontrant les propriétés de l’amour, la compassion, le pardon et la justice pour les pauvres et les opprimés. Pour leur croissance spirituelle, les chrétiens doivent être enseignés par des leaders qui non seulement ont une croyance, mais sont aussi capables d’enseigner et de vivre selon la Parole de Dieu, et ce particulièrement dans l’Église universelle où une éducation formelle est défaillante parmi les leaders. C’est donc la raison pour laquelle John Stott a fondé le Langham Partnership en 1969, par ce, refusant le revenu personnel de la vente de ses livres et consacrant toutes les redevances au soutien de la formation des pasteurs en Afrique, en Asie, en Amérique latine et au Moyen-Orient.

1969
The Beginning
Langham Trust is founded by John Stott, given its name from Langham Place at All Souls Church in London, where Stott pastored his adult life.
1974-1979
A Movement Forms
Langham spreads to the United States (1974), Canada (1978) and Australia (1979), all catching the vision to raise awareness of the needs of the global church.
1996
A Name Change
The name in the U.S. was changed to John Stott Ministries. John Stott, in his wry British humor, would often refer to John Stott Ministries as the "ministry that resembles my name."
2001
FACT Reunion
John Stott Ministries merged with the Foundation for Advanced Christian Training (FACT). Both of these organizations could trace their roots back to John Stott, so it was, as John said at the time, "more of a reunion than a merger."
2002
New Ministries & Partners
The third arm of Langham's approach to equipping the global church, Langham Preaching, was launched, with the recognition there were millions of pastors serving around the world with no training on how to teach the Bible. In addition, Hong Kong joins the Langham Partnership family.
2003
Global Partnership
The five national organizations, comprised of UK & Ireland, U.S., Canada, New Zealand and Hong Kong, sign a protocol to define their common purpose and convictions, and commits the partnership to work together in delivering Langham's worldwide ministry.
2007
Langham New Zealand
New Zealand joins the Langham Partnership family through collaboration with Leadership Development International. The combined organization is know as LeaDev-Langham.
2011
John Stott Passing
On July 27, 2011, John Stott went to be with the Lord, leaving behind a legacy that is still multiplying today around the world. One of the most influential leaders of the Christian church in the 20th Century, Stott was a man filled with grace and humility, seeking above all, to know Christ and Him crucified. 2012
Return to Roots
Honoring the wishes expressed by John Stott prior to his death, John Stott Ministries Board of Directors unanimously approved a name change to Langham Partnership. The name aligns the U.S. with the growing worldwide movement. Learn more about this momentous change
